David Paly, MD
Board Certified in Pain Medicine and Anesthesiology
David Paly, MD has completed two Fellowship training programs. One in Neuroanesthesia and Pain from Yale University School of Medicine and the other as a NIMH Neuroscience Research Fellow at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Paly completed his residency in anesthesia and earned his medical degree from the Yale University School of Medicine. He is board certified in anesthesiology.
Dr. Paly’s professional career includes 20+ years as a practicing physician in anesthesia and pain management in greater Tacoma. Before moving to the Puget Sound area, he served as the Co-Director of the Maryland Pain Therapy Unit at the University of Maryland while an Assistant Professor in Anesthesiology.
Dr. Paly has extensively researched and published on topics in the area of pain management, including the neurobiochemistry of endorphins and the use of local anesthetics or steroids in myofascial pain syndrome.
Dr. Paly is also a noted expert on textiles, especially in the area of Ikat textiles from around the world. He was an Invited Speaker at the Textile Museum in Washington, D.C., presenting the topic of "Indigo in Ikat".
Dr. Paly is married with two sons. In his time off, he is an avid skier, wind surfer, kayaker and artist.
